Park House and 48 Pall Mall Wins Green Apple Award for Pioneering Sustainability

Park House and 48 Pall Mall, a landmark property managed by Real Estate Management (UK) Ltd (REM), has been awarded the prestigious Green Apple Environment Award in recognition of its outstanding environmental initiatives.

The Green Apple Awards

The Green Apple Environment Awards, established in 1994 by The Green Organisation, celebrate global leaders in sustainability. They honour projects that set benchmarks in environmental innovation and inspire organisations worldwide to adopt greener practices. These awards are part of the larger Green World Awards, the most extensive environmental awards programme on Earth, with winners recognised across sectors and celebrated in global ceremonies. Every event’s carbon footprint is offset through tree planting initiatives in collaboration with Green Earth Appeal and the United Nations.

Park House: Sustainability at its Core

As one of London’s premier commercial properties, Park House’s sustainability programme showcases its alignment with the Green Apple Awards’ mission. Since 2016, REM has partnered with Recorra and Principle Cleaning Services to transform waste management across the site. Key achievements include:

• Revolutionising Waste Management: Park House introduced a bin press, reducing the need for waste bins by 40% and recycling bins by 50%. A cardboard baler further eliminated eight 1100L bins, converting cardboard into recyclable bales, significantly enhancing recycling efficiency.

• Impressive Recycling Rates: Through these initiatives, Park House achieved a remarkable 81.5% recycling rate over the past year, positioning it as a leader in sustainable waste practices.

• Carbon Emissions Reduction: By reducing waste collections, the building cut vehicle idling time by 31 hours annually, lowering its carbon footprint.

• Engaging Occupiers: Back-of-house audits and tailored Recycling Improvement Strategies ensured occupiers and staff played an active role in reducing waste and improving recycling outcomes.

A Green Icon for London

The Green Apple Award cements Park House’s reputation not just as an architectural icon but as a model for sustainable urban development. The award reflects the building’s commitment to achieving measurable environmental impact, from optimising waste systems to fostering a culture of sustainability among its occupiers.

A Global Role Model

By earning this recognition, Park House becomes a flagship example of how commercial buildings can lead in sustainability. It aligns with the Green Apple Awards’ mission to inspire global environmental progress, showing that innovation, collaboration, and commitment can create greener, more responsible spaces. This achievement reinforces Park House’s role as a leader in both real estate and environmental stewardship.
