Rooftop Beehives at Park House Oxford Street
Earlier this year, the team at Park House appointed urban beekeeping company Alvéole to install beehives on the rooftop of the Oxford Street building.
REM’s West End Portfolio Manager Phillip Potts managed the project, enlisting the support of service partners and volunteers to redecorate the roof lobby area, install new safety barriers and plant a bee-friendly wildflower garden for easy access to nectar and pollen.
The team commissioned talented London-based muralist Ayesha Kamarudin to add a splash of colour to an otherwise industrial rooftop.
The hive project was officially launched with an event in the office reception for occupiers to ‘Meet the Beekeeper’ to find out more about the new rooftop residents. To maximise engagement, a competition was held with a chance to win afternoon tea, and later that week jewellers Alex Monroe were on site selling their renowned bee-themed necklaces and earrings.
There are currently around 15,000 bees but this is due to increase by August when the team hopes to have its first batch of Park House honey.
